OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Content Producer serves as steward of the Museum’s voice, manages public and media relations, creates and publishes digital content for social media and other platforms, and provides editing and copywriting support. An ideal candidate is a masterful writer, influential communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills, has a creative spark, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, manage and maintain the Museum’s editorial calendar
  • Create, edit and proofread copy for email newsletters, articles, media releases, printed material, online posts and other projects
  • In partnership with the Marketing and Design team, ensure all communications are aligned with the Museum’s brand and voice
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Design team on content development, design direction, and marketing strategies
  • Create/publish/distribute content on multiple digital platforms, including emails, website, blog(s) and social media
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with local and national media, generating press coverage of the Museum’s events, initiatives, and exhibitions
  • Manage media relations on the Museum’s behalf including pitching stories, handling image and media requests, managing media database, and tracking coverage related to the Museum
  • Curate the Museum’s online presence including its Instagram feed and stories, Twitter feed and Facebook posts
  • Collaborate with senior staff in preparation of presentations and formal remarks
  • Be present and represent the Museum at events and community functions
  • Minor production tasks as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to develop and disseminate messaging across multiple platforms for different audiences
  • Strict attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of work
  • Strong relationship-building skills with Museum members, donors, colleagues and other key stakeholders
  • Creative, innovative approach to communications and problem-solving
  • Solid time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work and manage projects independently while also being able to develop and critique creative work in a collaborative environment
  • Minimum three years of related experience in communications and public relations
  • Facility with social media platforms
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and working with a CMS (Craft, WordPress, Drupal, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Spark)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with SaaS products such as MailChimp, G Suite, Slack and Airtable
  • Experience working with museums or other non-profits
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and editing in Spanish

SALARY:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. Salary commensurate with experience, with an annual range of $38,000-42,000.
