Calendar / Family Sunday
Sunday May 15, 2016 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Don’t miss our monthly event just for families. Explore the Museum’s colorful exhibitions with an interactive treasure map, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on art project, learn more with a docent tour, take home prizes and have fun!
This May, in conjunction withMINGEI OF JAPAN, celebrate Children’s Day in Japan by creating your own koi-shaped windsock! Guest Artist Amy Mayfield from Clay Munchkins will lead participants through the craft. The koi was selected because it symbolizes strength and prosperity. According to legend, a koi swam upstream to become a dragon and the way the windsock blows in the wind looks as if it is swimming.
At 2:30pm, enjoy the sounds of Camarada and meet Ryan Simmons on bassoon as he takes you on a musical journey and shares all about his craft.
