Calendar / Family Sunday
Sunday July 16, 2017 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Don’t miss our monthly event just for families. Explore the Museum’s colorful exhibitions with an interactive treasure map, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on art project, learn more with a docent tour, take home prizes and have fun!
This July, celebrate Mingei’s new exhibition ARLINE FISCH – One of a Kind by creating your own Arline Fisch-inspired necklace! Led by Guest Artist, Sharon McFadden, participants will work with punched foil flowers, feathers and beads to create their own one of a kind wearable art piece.
At 2:30 pm, enjoy the sounds of Camarada and meet Scott Paulsen on harp, theremin and other “gestural” instruments as he takes you on a musical journey and shares all about his craft.
Artist Bio: Sharon McFadden is a San Diego based artist and educator. She has worked since 2014 as an artist instructor within the paint and sip community, leading adult acrylic painting classes. Sharon has also worked as a children’s educator since 2009, and has participated in summer camps and after-school programs, led educational tours, and served as a substitute teacher.
Family Gallery Spotlight: Look, listen and share ideas with a Museum Educator during a 15 minute gallery spotlight specifically geared toward children and families. Offered at 1:30pm & 3:30pm.
We invite and encourage families to enjoy the Museum together, to talk, laugh and move around freely. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Running and other physical activity which might harm kids or artwork is not permitted.
