Calendar / Family Sunday
Sunday April 24, 2016 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Don’t miss our monthly event just for families. Explore the Museum’s colorful exhibitions with an interactive treasure map, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on art project, learn more with a docent tour, take home prizes and have fun!
This month, create your own Asafo Flag! Asafo Flags are created by the Fante people of the West African country of Ghana. Narrative and storytelling are common themes among the flags, giving visual representation to specific Ghanaian proverbs, containing characters (animals and human) who symbolically tell the story of the proverb based on a specific company’s history. Participants will tell their own story using felt, canvas and colored thread!
At 2:30pm, enjoy the sounds of Camarada and meet Jim George, clarinet & Carol Pelkner, marimba as they take you on a musical journey and shares all about their craft.
*Please note this event was moved due to Earth Day in Balboa Park on April 17th
