Calendar / Family Sunday Pop Up
Sunday October 21, 2018 at 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Join us for a Family Sunday Pop-Up, hosted by Mingei International Museum! This free program for all ages includes interactive activities throughout the library, a hands-on art project, musical performances, storytelling, prizes and much more. Each month the Museum partners with local artists and organizations throughout the San Diego region to offer a diverse range of programming tied thematically to the Museum’s permanent collection.
Join Mingei this October for a celebration honoring Day of the Dead festivities by creating your own sugar skull piñata. Led by guest artist Itzel Islas, participants will experiment with cardboard, crepe streamers and construction paper to craft and decorate their piñatas.
Guest Artist Bio: Itzel Islas is a graphic designer and illustrator born in San Diego, CA and raised in Tijuana, México. During the day she works in apparel design and at night she focuses on freelance work and personal projects. Itzel’s work is inspired by vibrant color palettes and fun details of everyday life. Her main medium is the computer, but she also loves sketching and incorporating hand-drawn elements into her designs. View her online portfolio and store.
