Calendar / Family Sunday Pop Up
Sunday November 18, 2018 at 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Join us for a Family Sunday Pop-Up, hosted by Mingei International Museum! This free program for all ages includes interactive activities throughout the library, a hands-on art project, musical performances, storytelling, prizes and much more. Each month the Museum partners with local artists and organizations throughout the San Diego region to offer a diverse range of programming tied thematically to the Museum’s permanent collection.
Join Mingei this November to create your own circle weaving. Led by ArtReach Teaching Artist, Isabel Halpern, participants will use cardboard looms, yarn, beads and natural fibers to create their own unique textiles.
Guest Artist Bio: Izzy is an artist and art educator based in San Diego, California. She teaches in different schools throughout San Diego County through the non-profit, ArtReach. She practices in different mediums: found materials, ink, watercolor, colored pencil, and oil. Her current focus is in mural arts education, creating large scale murals and collaborative installations at schools with children and teens.
Mini Mingei Storytime: Look, discuss and listen during this 30-minute interactive story time intended for art-loving children and families of all ages. Offered at 1:00pm.
At 2:30 pm, enjoy the sounds of Camarada and meet Scott Paulson on harp, theremin and other “gestural” instruments as he takes you on a musical journey and shares all about his craft.
