Calendar / Family Sunday Pop Up
Sunday April 14, 2019 at 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Join us for a Family Sunday Pop-Up, hosted by Mingei International Museum! This free program for all ages includes interactive activities throughout the library, a hands-on art project, musical performances, storytelling, prizes and much more. Each month the Museum partners with local artists and organizations throughout the San Diego region to offer a diverse range of programming tied thematically to the Museum’s permanent collection.
This month, design your own painted bead necklace, inspired by the Museum’s bead and jewelry collection. Led by Guest Artist Elizabeth Martinez you will use colorful paint and wooden beads of all shapes and sizes to craft your one-of-a-kind jewelry.
Guest Artist Bio: Elizabeth Martinez is a graphic designer and jeweler based in San Diego, CA. As a designer, she specializes in whimsical digital illustrations. Bright colors, nonsensical characters, and sparkles are running themes across her design work. Besides working in two-dimensional art, Elizabeth likes to work in three-dimensional art in the form of jewelry. Sometimes her 2D art comes to life in the form of stickers and enamel pins; a happy medium between jewelry and graphic design. Find her on Instagram.
