Saturday April 20, 2019 at 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
One event on Saturday April 27, 2019 at 10:00am
Be a master of craft. Work alongside notable artists and designers in 1 – 3 day intensives to make something meaningful together. From honing technical skills to gaining creative technique, participants develop processes to create true objects of art.
In this 2-day intensive, taught by textile artisan Sarah Winston, you will be guided, start to finish, in creating a natural-dyed, hand-woven textile. Create your own palette of colors using natural dyes such as cochineal, madder, logwood and pomegranate. Using simple upright looms, explore various weaving patterns, the workings of the loom, cultural and historical significance, all while crafting your own unique tapestry.
Saturday, April 20 – 10am – 3pm – Dyeing
Students will focus on natural dyes and creating a palette of colors using wool yarn.
Saturday, April 27 – 10am – 4pm – Weaving
