Calendar / Palm Springs Art Excursion
Saturday January 6, 2018 at 8:00 am - 6:30 pm
Enjoy a day of architecture and design with private tours of Albert Frey and Lina Bo Bardi: A Search for Living Architecture at the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center, Kinesthesia: Latin American Kinetic Art 1954-1969 at the Palm Springs Art Museum, and a special architecture tour of the Albert Frey House II.
A Search for Living Architecture presents an unprecedented exploration of two visionary architects who critically expanded the meaning and practice of modern architecture in São Paulo, Brazil and Southern California. Kinesthesia is the first in-depth examination of the pioneering role played by South American artists in the international Kinetic Art movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Frey House ll was Albert Frey’s second home in Palm Springs and has become a hillside landmark. Discuss the exhibitions and architecture over lunch in the museum’s sculpture garden. Light breakfast served on the bus in the morning, and wine and light snacks served on the way home as a relaxing end to an inspiring day!
Includes: Transportation in chartered coach; lunch; breakfast and evening refreshments on the bus; entrance, tour and docent fees; tax-deductible contribution to Mingei International Museum.
