Calendar / Professional Development Workshop for Educators
Wednesday May 17, 2017 at 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Mingei International Museum invites educators to a FREE professional development workshop held at Baker Elementary. This workshop is inspired by the Museum’s exhibition, SANDY SWIRNOFF – Knotted Fiber Jewelry. The curriculum is geared toward 3rd-5th grade teachers, but can be easily adapted to other grade levels.
Teachers will learn finger knitting, finger crocheting and macramé techniques to make their own fiber and sea glass necklaces with their students.
Participants will learn how to foster a safe and creative environment as they explore art with students. By integrating STEAM and Common Core practices with art projects, teachers will explore how to challenge students to be creative and innovative while creating and designing their own wearable works of art.
Teachers will receive FREE art materials for their classroom and an opportunity to win a rock tumbler for their classroom!
**This workshop is currently sold out. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the waitlist.
