A Portrait of Fragile Diversity in Oaxacan Textiles
Thursday September 8, 2016 at 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join us for a special lecture on the work of the Living Threads Project, presented by project creator Eric Mindling. This project is the product of two years of field work on Oaxaca’s traditional dress and the people who wear it, covering more than 50 indigenous communities. Enjoy a glimpse into the world of traditional dress and profound heritage, as well as an invitation to reflect on our own roots or rootlessness. Eric Mindling has lived in Oaxaca, Mexico and worked closely with traditional artists. He is a writer and cultural tour guide, and will be organizing the Museum’s trip to Oaxaca in October of this year.
