Ancestors to the Future

Join the Museum’s Ancestors to the Future by contributing to Mingei International Museum’s future through a bequest or other planned gift and help ensure that the Museum will inspire visitors of all ages for generations to come. A planned gift can also provide income for you or your loved ones. Recognize or remember friends, family, and special occasions through a thoughtful tribute, an especially meaningful expression of charitable giving.

Connoisseurs ($5,000 annually)

Play a major role in acquisitions by joining the Connoisseurs. Since its inception, the Connoisseurs have helped the Museum purchase more than 200 important additions to its permanent collection, including Alice Hudson’s Procession, a parade of over 70 figures including a dragon, woodland folks, and nursery rhyme characters, a pair of Japanese hand-carved wood hawks (sasanobori) by artisan Seino Tatsuzo (1895-1984), and a group of 22 textiles from various countries including Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Thailand, Iran and Mexico. 

Connoisseur Membership Benefits:

Founder’s Circle ($10,000 annually)

The Museum’s Founder’s Circle donor group was created in 2008 in recognition of the Museum’s 30th Anniversary year and provides essential support for current and future needs of the Museum. Members of this select and intimate group of friends generously donate $10,000 annually ($9,297 may be considered tax-deductible). A portion ($1,250) is used for participation in the Museum’s Director’s Circle, our highest level of membership. The balance is allocated to three important areas:

  • Acquisitions: $3,750 for acquiring, managing and preserving timeless art objects for the Museum’s permanent collection (60% – purchasing, 40% management/preservation)
  • Operations: $2,500 to support current administrative and operational needs
  • Endowment: $2,500 for deposit in a permanent fund to help secure the Museum’s future
  • Membership: $1,250 for participation in the Museum’s Director’s Circle, our highest level of membership
