Education Offerings During Closure
Mingei is planning a major renovation over the next year – one that will transform the way the Museum serves the community. A primary goal of this project is to increase accessibility to the Museum’s collection, exhibition and educational programs for all ages. We are thrilled to share that the new Museum will have a dedicated classroom space, along with new public outdoor areas, a multi-purpose performance space and much more!
Though the Museum’s Balboa Park location will be closed beginning September 3rd, there are many ways for teachers, students and families to experience Mingei during the closure.
Bringing the Museum to the Classroom
While the Museum’s building is temporarily closed for renovation, the Mingei Education Team will offer free interactive and engaging K-12 classroom visits. Students will be able to explore the Museum’s diverse collection through images and real objects that can be handled and touched.
Mingei Away will officially launch late Fall. Use this form to be added to the waitlist.
