2022 Annual Appeal | Mingei International Museum

In January 2022, I joined this team and have been enjoying my time becoming acquainted with the collection, staff, and visitors ever since. I’m delighted to share that we welcomed nearly 200,000 visitors during our year of reopening—a 100% increase over previous years! Thank you to everyone who visited, joined, or renewed membership support or attended one of the many programs offered.

I’m thrilled to be part of the Museum’s mission to share thoughtfully designed, carefully crafted, and passionately made objects from around the world, which you see in our exhibitions and community-driven programming. In October we opened PIÑATAS—THE HIGH ART OF CELEBRATION, one of the first-ever exhibitions to spotlight piñatas as a traditional craft and vibrant contemporary art form. This show includes more than 80 works made by Latinx artists and our workshops, lectures, and events celebrate local piñata makers, artists, and students.

We invite you to contribute to this year’s Annual Appeal to allow Mingei to continue to serve the community with programs like this.

This March, the Museum will proudly welcome 25 MILLION STITCHES—ONE STITCH, ONE REFUGEE, a powerful and impactful traveling show bringing attention to the global refugee crisis. We will be working with area refugee groups to share local stories from our community that will deepen the exhibition’s meaning in our region.

It’s only with your generosity that we’re able to offer compelling exhibitions and programs, and we invite you to support the Museum’s mission by making a gift to the 2022 Annual Appeal. Your donation will help Mingei continue to research, evaluate, plan, and install meaningful exhibitions, celebrating the work of craftspeople, makers, and designers both historical and present.

On behalf of the Museum’s board, staff, and volunteers, thank you for your past support and for your continued passion for Mingei.

Your donation helped us continue to launch and sustain innovative, community-centered programming during the inaugural year in our new facility.

Thank you for supporting the 2022 Annual Appeal!
