There's been a lot of excitement and change at Mingei since the Museum's transformation, but one thing that remains constant is our commitment to providing free education programs for families, K-12 students, and educators. Museum programs, such as free school tours, Family Sunday, Mini Mingei, and more offer fun, accessible, high-quality opportunities for meaningful encounters with art—at the Museum and beyond.
One of our most in-depth initiatives is Art of the People Outreach, which brings engaging art lessons to two Title 1 elementary schools. Reaching third-graders and teachers at each location, Mingei's bilingual teaching artist, Diana Benavidez, provides hands-on art instruction in the classrooms throughout the school year. The students and their teachers visit the Museum twice—once for a docent-led tour and then again for an end-of-year family celebration and exhibition of their work in the Museum's galleries.
This year, we invite you to contribute to our Annual Appeal, helping us to continue to offer immersive and empowering educational experiences like this.
