Inspired by the varied stitching techniques featured in BLUE GOLD, join us for our monthly stitching workshop held at the George Nakashima table in Mingei's Founders Gallery. Each month, you'll engage in a unique project centered around the themes of stitching and indigo. Stitch Together offers minimal direct instruction, focusing instead on creating an immersive, hands-on environment where participants learn through exploration and collaboration. All skill levels welcome.
January's project will be sashiko patterns. Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique that originated as a form of functional stitching to reinforce and repair worn clothing, particularly work garments. Over time, sashiko evolved into a decorative art form, characterized by its distinctive white running stitches on indigo-dyed fabric.
This event is sold out. Please consider joining us for the final Stitch Together on February 14th. Sign up at mingei.org/whats-on.
