Stitch Together | Mingei International Museum

Inspired by the varied stitching techniques featured in BLUE GOLD, join us for our monthly stitching workshop held at the George Nakashima table in Mingei's Founders Gallery. Each month, you'll engage in a unique project centered around the themes of stitching and indigo. Stitch Together offers minimal direct instruction, focusing instead on creating an immersive, hands-on environment where participants learn through exploration and collaboration. All skill levels welcome.

November's project will be darning holes. Darning holes is a traditional technique used to repair and reinforce fabric, often employing intricate stitching to mend worn or damaged areas. The visible mending created through darning with indigo threads or patches can highlight the beauty of repair, celebrating the garment's history while showcasing the rich, vibrant tones of indigo dye.
