Stitch Together | Mingei International Museum

Inspired by the varied stitching techniques featured in BLUE GOLD, join us for our monthly stitching workshop held in the gallery. Each month, you'll engage in a unique project centered around the themes of stitching and indigo. All skill levels welcome.

October's project will be sashiko stitching. Sashiko is a traditional Japanese form of decorative stitching that originated in the Edo period. Initially developed as a means of repairing and reinforcing worn fabric, Sashiko involves intricate, repetitive patterns created using simple running stitches. The term "Sashiko" translates to "little stabs" or "little piercings," reflecting the method's straightforward technique.
