The exhibition was funded in part by the San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, the County of San Diego Community Enhancement Program and Mingei International’s Exhibition Fund.

Childhood’s joys were celebrated in this exhibition which included carousel animals from the Dentzel family — the renowned, five-generation-old American maker, American, European and Asian toys and dolls from around the world. The exhibition was composed primarily of objects from the Museum’s permanent collection with select objects from private collections.

Playing within the exhibition is Mingei International’s videotape “DOLLS – Mirrors of Humanity.”
