Celebrate skateboarding's true "Do It Yourself" ethos, from the boards, gear, and ramps, to the machines and the repurposed boards as objects of use.

To land a trick, to make the make—that moment is everything. It’s the struggle between you and the skateboard, the challenge of turning something sketchy into a clean run. Whether it's mastering a carve, dropping in, or landing a trick, the average number of attempts is 10,000. When you finally achieve it, that's when it becomes a true "MAKE."

This exhibition celebrates skateboarding's true "Do It Yourself" ethos, tracing its evolution from the early days of making decks in garages and building ramps from found lumber to the handcrafted works of art seen today.

Experience how skateboarding nurtures creativity, self-expression, and joy through artisanal craftsmanship. The progression of skateboard design, safety gear, and skate shoes, alongside the inventive machines that facilitated their creation, is driven by a DIY ethos. Around the world, artists embrace this spirit by turning old skateboards into jewelry and furniture, demonstrating how skateboarding combines play, design, and sustainability in vibrant ways.
