Creative City Heights | Mingei International Museum

Creative City Heights is a community initiative of Mingei International Museum in partnership with The AjA Project, Media Arts Center San Diego, Partnership for the Advancement of New Americans (PANA), and Karen Organization of San Diego. Working together, these organizations are developing creative and cross-cultural activities for the City Heights neighborhood and connecting the Museum's philosophy with the rich traditions of City Heights' diverse residents. Our hope is that through collective creative action we can continue to build spaces to share the cultural traditions and expressions found throughout the community.

AjA Project

Our mission is to provide photography-based programming to transform the lives of youth and communities. We believe youth and communities have the ability to change from within. The AjA Project exists to ignite change, break cycles of marginalization and to build healthy communities. We do this through a creative platform called participatory photography that asks participants to reflect on and analyze their personal and social landscapes.

Media Arts Center San Diego

We provide new media tools and channels to create equitable and engaged communities where underserved voices are heard. Our programs, events and film festivals are diverse and inclusionary; they are designed with participants and community collaboration in mind. Showcases for LGBTQ films and filmmakers, Jewish-Latino filmmakers, women filmmakers and others address film artists and audiences who are often disenfranchised.
